Shaping a more sustainable fashion future at Forum Viseu's Fashion Manifesto' event. An immersive and impactful event, that redefined sustainable fashion, inspiring conscious consumption and fostering a vibrant community of environmentally aware fashion enthusiasts.

DESCRIPTION ➡️ "Fashion Manifesto 2019" was the first fashion event in a Portuguese mall that openly discussed sustainability. The event brought together influencers, trendsetters, and the community to promote eco-conscious and socially responsible fashion.

I am proud to have led this project while working for the producer agency Alcateia, and grateful for the trust of our bold client and great team.

Problem Statement

Unveiling the Ecological Impact

The democratized fashion market, while providing unprecedented access, has been burdened with a growing environmental footprint. 

This industry is increasingly associated with pollution and waste accumulation, raising alarms about its contribution to global ecological challenges. 

It was evident that a profound shift was required to align the fashion industry with the values of socially conscious and sustainable consumers.

Approach

Designing a Conscious Revolution

Taking inspiration from global sustainability movements, we aimed to revolutionize perceptions of conscious fashion by transforming Forum Viseu. 

Through a multidimensional event, we sparked conversations around responsible consumption and ethical fashion with creative art installations that ingeniously employed disposable materials to raise awareness, melding education, artistic expression, and societal engagement seamlessly.

Solution

Pioneering Sustainable Fashion

To create this concept, I was inspired by activations from several brands that stimulated discussion on sustainability. Experiences that allowed the public to express themselves, while also showing great concern for the impact of the installations and ethical use of resources.

Crafting a Transformative Experience

The "Fashion Manifesto" initiative featured a thoughtfully crafted event with stages tailored to diverse audiences.

We ensured that the event seamlessly incorporated eco-conscious practices, which were highlighted in thematic corners featuring custom-designed scenography elements, repurposed materials, and sustainable furnishings from brands such Darono brand.

Additionally, we curated a forest of vibrant, living plants sourced from a local Garden Farm: Criaverde, adding an enchanting and sustainable touch.

Some set design details.

1. Trendsetters Talk Shows: An engaging panel discussion led by established fashion influencers such Fernanda VelezNica Gomes Graça and hosted by Ana Rita Clara, a famous Portuguese Tv Host known as outspoken advocate of the sustainable movement. 

Attendees could interact directly with the speakers, gaining insights into sustainable fashion choices and their impact.

2. Craft Your Manifesto: A visually stunning installation, incorporating recycled materials and collaboratively crafted visual elements. 

Participants could contribute to a vibrant mural of messages and visual memories, reflecting their personal fashion manifesto.

3. Swap Market: A pioneering initiative, Forum Viseu's first Swap Market allowed attendees to exchange pre-loved clothing items, promoting circular fashion and reducing waste. 

This unique activity was coordinated with the partnership of Let's Swap, fostering an atmosphere of participation and community engagement.

4. Fashion Show: A mesmerizing fashion show with coordinates selected by influencers among the brands featured in that Shopping Mall. The models came from a forest of plants, recycled materials and vibrant lighting.

5. After-Party: A joyful celebration for the 14th-anniversary of Forum Viseu, complete with a decoupage-decorated cake and the involvement of distinguished guests. Attendees joined in the festivities, further strengthening the bonds of the sustainable fashion community.

Results

Empowering Change Through Experience

Remarkable success on multiple fronts:

  • Engagement: The event resonated deeply with the audience, sparking conversations about sustainability, ethical fashion choices, and mindful consumption.
  • Community: Attendees actively participated in discussions, artistic collaborations, and the Swap Market, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
  • Awareness: Forum Viseu established itself as a pioneer in sustainable fashion, garnering media attention and positioning the shopping centre as a hub for conscious fashion enthusiasts.
  • Inspiration: The immersive experience left a lasting impact, motivating attendees to reconsider their fashion choices and driving a shift towards more sustainable and ethical consumption.

Through the "Fashion Manifesto" project, we successfully bridged the gap between fashion and sustainability, redefining the way fashion events engage audiences. 

 I am proud to have led this initiative, contributing to a more conscious and ethical fashion industry. 

This project not only showcased the power of experiential design but also ignited a movement towards a more mindful and sustainable future.
